Melania Abrahamian, Ph.D. is a highly experienced big data analyst with expertise in omics and functional genetics for translational research. She is a pragmatic strategist who leads, plans, and defines research programs that meet team priorities. With a proven history in risk management, leadership, collaborations, and securing budget, Melania is also an excellent project manager. Currently, Melania works as a Machine Learning Engineer at ensodata, an AI Engineering-Research company focused on precision healthcare. In her role, she develops AI solutions using big data signals to address issues regarding sleep medicine, specifically obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and related comorbidities. Melania collaborates with clinicians and engineers to design and build algorithms and models with a focus on improving the patients' AI experience through solutions for diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment processes. Prior to her current role, Melania worked as an ML Researcher and Data Scientist at The Alan Turing Institute. She contributed to ML research-engineering on the application of different features, such as epigenetics and genomics, and the impact of the type of features on model performance, specifically in neurodegenerative disease prediction. Melania also worked as an ML Engineer and AI Researcher in Precision Health at Omdena, where she led ML tasks with a focus on time series in healthcare projects and computer vision. Melania holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the University of California, Riverside, where she studied from 2011 to 2017.
